New work: Tabletop still life

I have done another piece exploring new compositions and moodiness. Pictured above is my loose sketch and my still life set-up. (oil on cradled panel, 30 x 30 inches)
I have used thicker paint to do the underpainting. I will not be covering all of it in order to add texture and to show the layers of my process.
Underpainting close-up
Finished squash close-up.
Finished hydrangea close-up.
Above is the completed painting. I really like this one. The objects are interesting and tell a story. Next, I will see how this new style translates to a smaller surface, 16 x 16 inches to be exact.
